UCL: Manchester City vs Paris Saint-Germain Match Preview 24/11/2021

Manchester City And Paris Saint-Germain Set For Heavyweight Champions League Showdown

The Parisians claimed a 2-0 victory over Manchester City on home soil back in September, with Lionel Messi scoring a memorable goal to seal the win.  Nevertheless, Pep Guardiola’s men find themselves top of Group A – one point clear of second-place PSG and five points ahead of Club Brugge. RB Leipzig are bottom with just a single point.

Manchester City have won three of their four Champions League outings this season, hammering Leipzig 6-3 before doing the double over Brugge.

As a result, they have netted a whopping 15 UCL goals this term. Only Bayern Munich have scored more goals than Guardiola’s side in the competition.

Manchester City head into Wednesday’s clash on the back of an easy 3-0 win over Everton. They sit second in the Premier League table, having lost only two of their 12 domestic games this season.

When you look at the bigger picture, the Cityzens have lost just two of their previous 17 matches in the Champions League.

On the flip side, Paris Saint-Germain picked up a 3-1 victory over Nantes last time out, with Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi getting on the scoresheet.

The Parisians now find themselves 11 points clear at the top of the Ligue 1 table, having lost just one of their 14 league matches this term.

In the Champions League, Mauricio Pochettino’s side have registered two wins and two draws so far – meaning they are undefeated this season. It is also worth noting that Paris Saint-Germain have only lost one of their past six away encounters in the Champions League.

September’s loss is Manchester City’s only defeat to Paris Saint-Germain. Across the six meetings between the teams, Manchester City have claimed three wins and two draws. Let’s not forget that four of the previous five meetings between Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain have dished up over 1.5 goals.

Kevin De Bruyne and Ferran Torres are both currently sidelined for Manchester City. Jack Grealish is also a doubt for Wednesday’s clash.

As for Paris Saint-Germain, they could be without as many as seven first-team players for the trip to England. Marquinhos, Sergio Ramos, Julian Draxler and Gianluigi Donnarumma are among the doubts.

PREDICTION: BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE AND PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN TO WIN OR DRAW.
