Tottenham Hotspur Host Chelsea In A Huge London Derby As They Both Chase Top Four.
Tottenham Hotspur come into the match on the back of a disappointing 1-0 defeat at Brighton and Hove Albion on Sunday night. There was much talk before the game of how Spurs were going to deal with the loss of Harry Kane upfront and the answer was not very well as the performance was below expectations.
That result means Spurs have lost each of their last two Premier League games including the 3-1 defeat at home against Liverpool. In fact, Spurs have won only one of their last 4 league matches and that came against Sheffield United away from home following a 1-1 draw at home against Fulham.
Chelsea make the short trip to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium having defeated Burnley 2-0 at home on the weekend. The goals came from two unlikely sources as Cesar Azpilicueta opened the scoring and Marcos Alonso secured maximum points late in the game. It was the first victory for new manager Thomas Tuchel, as Chelsea were held to 0-0 at home with Wolverhampton Wanderers in his opening match in charge of the club.
The victory over Burnley means Chelsea are undefeated in 5 of their last 6 games in all competitions. However, they have won only 2 of their last 7 Premier League matches and that form will need to improve if they are to qualify for the Champions League.
Tottenham are still without the injured Harry Kane, who joins Sergio Reguilón, Dele Alli, and Giovani Lo Celso on the treatment table. Serge Aurier is a doubt having picked up a knock.
Chelsea are one of the few teams in the Premier League who appear to have a clean bill of health. Tuchel has a full squad from which to select his team and it will be interesting to see who plays in the wing back and forward positions.
PREDICTION: Neither team is going to want to lose this game and that may result in a low number of goals scored. However, Spurs and Chelsea have been poor at defending when playing home and away respectively, therefore we could see a low scoring draw.
