Leicester City vs Liverpool Match Preview And Prediction For Tuesday 28 Of December 2021
After their Boxing Day clash with Leeds United was postponed, Liverpool return to action on Tuesday. Jurgen Klopp’s side travel to the King Power Stadium to face a wounded Leicester City outfit.
The Foxes were thrashed 6-3 by Manchester City on Sunday. As a result, they find themselves tenth in the Premier League table – 13 points outside the top four. On the flip side, Liverpool sit second in the standings – six points behind first-place Man City and a whopping 19 points clear of Leicester.
Leicester were completely outclassed by Man City. Not only did they concede six goals, but they also saw just 28% possession. Granted, Brendan Rodgers’ men scored three goals in the space of ten second-half minutes. But they ended up suffering a total thrashing at the hands of the league leaders.
The Foxes have only managed to win two of their previous eight Premier League matches, recording two draws and four losses in that time.
When you look at the bigger picture, Leicester have won just six of their 17 league games this term – registering four draws and seven defeats along the way. Rodgers’ men also have one of the worst defensive records in the division. In fact, only four teams have conceded more goals than Leicester this season.
Liverpool were held to a 2-2 draw by Tottenham last time. Even so, they are currently enjoying a seven-match unbeaten streak in the Premier League. The Reds have won six of their past seven league outings, scoring 19 goals in the process. They have also kept four clean sheets during that period.
Liverpool have lost just one of their previous 36 encounters across all competitions and have scored in each of their last 34. Trends also show that Liverpool are undefeated at half-time in each of their past 25 games in the Premier League.
Over 2.5 goals have been scored in each of the previous five Premier League meetings between Leicester and Liverpool. The Foxes have only managed to win one of their last nine league matches against Liverpool, registering five losses and three draws in that time.
Leicester City extensive injury list includes Ricardo Pereira, Jonny Evans, Caglar Soyuncu, Patson Daka, Wesley Fofana, James Justin, Harvey Barnes and Ryan Bertrand.
Liverpool will be without the suspended Andy Robertson on Tuesday. There are also doubts over the fitness of Virgil van Dijk, Fabinho, Curtis Jones and Thiago.
PREDICTION: OVER 3.5 MATCH GOALS TO BE EXPECTED.
