The promise was that we were the present and future of Nigeria.
"Parents listen to your children", the song goes, "for we are the leaders of tomorrow", we sing as we take the long march to our various classrooms.
This is a familiar song for anyone who has completed at least a primary education in Nigeria. It was the motivation for so many parents and the hope of the Nigerian child. It was the reason we march "to our classes with clean hands and faces, to pay great attention to what we are told...for learning is better than silver and gold".
So where did it go wrong?
Did Nigeria abandon her own future?
I don't think so, not yet, not if you and I have a say in it. That is why I have created this group, for creative Nigerian thinkers to have a constructive arguments on the current challenges of our Nation and how best we can impact her future.
This is not a place to be pessimistic, this is group for believers (and some doubters) who share the hope of a better Nigeria and willing to contribute to it.
