In a matter of hour before the transfer window was supposed to close, Arsenal activated his release clause with La Liga and within a flash the deal was struck with Arsenal depositing funds with La Liga, completed his medicals in Madrid and finalizing personal terms on a four year contract with the option for a further 12 months.
