With more than two decades of practice, Dr. Domenico Calcaterra has earned a stellar reputation as a heart surgeon. He received his medical degree from La Sapienza, an Italian university located in Rome. After finishing his internship in General Surgery there, he went on to pursue a residency at Yale-New Haven Hospital's Hospital of Saint Raphael. Dr Calcaterra wanted to learn more, so he did a fellowship in cardiothoracic surgery at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine in Miami, Florida, and then another study in surgery of the aorta at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. He also has a doctorate in medicine from the University of Rome.
